The Meaning of MOAR-GUT

"Moar" is a word from the local dialect meaning "Mayr".

The term "Mayr" originally referred to a public official of the noble or religious landlords, who manage their property. From the later Middle Ages this term was also used to refer to independent farmers.

The history of MOAR-GUT

1914
The "Mayer zu Bach" farm is bought by our great-grandfather Alois Prommegger. He managed the farm with his wife and 6 children.

1929
Our grandfather Lorenz Prommegger takes over the farm with his wife Katharina. Cereals are cultivated and the main source of income comes from the livestock and dairy farming. The marriage produces (alongside my father, Ferdinand) a further 12 children.

1965
My parents, Ferdinand Prommegger and Maria Huber from Rauris marry.
Six months later they purchase the farm. The main income still comes from livestock and dairy farming. The rooms of the former servants are converted into guest rooms. Heating and running water are installed. In summer the first guests are accommodated.

1980
My parents build another house with 10 family apartments. According to the land register the guesthouse is called "Mayrhof". The focus: holidays for families on a farm.


1991
My husband Sepp Kendlbacher and I get married. Two years later our first daughter, Nora is born.

1995
We take over the management of the guesthouse from our parents and extend the house with 15 further family suites and two private apartments. We rename the guesthouse "MOAR-GUT" – as the farm is known to the locals. Our first son, Thomas is born.


2000
The whole house is renovated and we are awarded four stars!

2002
The spa area and the MOAR-GUT hotel kindergarten are built. In May our second daughter, Viktoria is born.

2004
A further 6 family suites are built as well as a new reception area.
Our fourth child, Paul is born that March.

2007
A large reconstruction takes place. We expand the hotel to a total of 35 family suites.

2008
The MOAR-GUT is awarded the title 4 Stars Superior and our membership to "Kinderhotels Europe" is successful.

2011
The hotel kindergarten is extended. Hotel MOAR-GUT becomes the first 4 Star Superior hotel in Salzburg to be awarded 5 Smileys by "Kinderhotels Europe".
