Are snow chains required in winter?
Winter tyres are sufficient. Road clearance services operate regularly and reliably. In the winter months, winter tyres are compulsory in Austria.
Can I travel without a car?
The nearest airport is Salzburg (approx. 1 hour away by taxi); from Munich the journey takes about 3 hours by taxi. The nearest railway station is St. Johann im Pongau, around 16 km away. We are happy to arrange a private shuttle; our reservations team will gladly inform you about prices.
Are there charging stations for electric cars?
In our free underground car park, charging stations for electric cars are available for a fee.
Where can I have my car cleaned?
You can have your car washed externally in our in-house car wash. We are also happy to carry out an interior cleaning for you. Please ask at reception for the respective fees.
Where is the Hotel Moar Gut located?
The Moar Gut family hotel is located in Großarl in the beautiful Salzburger Land region of Austria. Großarl is approx. 70 kilometres from the city of Salzburg and lies in a valley right in the mountains.
Is there a shuttle from the airport or railway station?
We are happy to arrange a shuttle for you. Our reception team will provide you with pricing information on request.
Where does the airport shuttle wait? How do I recognise my driver?
The driver will be waiting with a sign showing your name in front of the airport building, station or terminal in Munich. He usually drives a Mercedes V-Class or Sprinter.
Are child car seats available in the shuttle?
Child seats and infant car seats are provided by the taxi company for the shuttle. Please book in advance.

When will the suites be ready for check-in?
Our family suites are available from 4:00 p.m. on the day of arrival.
By what time does check-out need to be completed?
We kindly ask you to vacate your family suite by 10:00 a.m. on the day of departure.
Do the suites have a balcony?
All suites have a balcony or terrace.
What baby equipment is available in the room?
Each room is equipped with a changing table or changing mat with various care products, nappy bin, baby cot or crib and a kettle.
Is there a baby monitor?
We are happy to provide a baby monitor for you during your stay if required.
Is a bed guard and/or an extra cot available?
On request, we are also happy to provide a bed guard and/or an additional cot.
Is there a coffee machine?
Every suite is equipped with a Nespresso machine and capsules.
Are the cosmetic products organic?
All cosmetic products in the room and throughout the hotel are organic and vegan.
Is the water safe to drink?
The hotel is supplied with water from its own mountain spring. Mountain spring water of the highest drinking quality flows from every tap.
Are bathrobes available for babies and children?
Just like for adults, bathrobes for babies and children are provided in the suites.
Is there a hairdryer?
All suites at the Moar Gut have at least one hairdryer in the bathrooms.
Do you have air conditioning?
Each suite is fitted with air conditioning so you can adjust the temperature individually.
Do you have blackout curtains?
Blackout curtains are provided that darken the room well, but do not offer complete blackout.

Is childcare provided according to age?
We offer baby, toddler, children’s and teen supervision with varied programmes.
Do children need to be registered for childcare?
Is there supervised children’s dining?
At lunchtime and in the evening, childcare is also available during meals. A short registration up to one hour beforehand is sufficient.
Where are the children looked after?
All children are looked after in our light-flooded Nature Children’s Farm. The entire area is designed with natural materials and has received multiple awards for its sustainable concept.
Where do older children meet? Children from around 10 years?
Directly next to the gaming room and climbing hall, our Teens Corner invites all kids aged 10 and over to meet, chill and hang out. A dedicated teens’ supervisor provides exciting and varied programmes.
What are the childcare hours?
Children are cared for seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. in our Nature Children’s Farm.
Is there a programme for teenagers or children from 10 years upwards?
We offer age-appropriate programmes for children. For teenagers and older children we have a teens’ meeting point and a youth room. Especially in summer, there are cool programmes and excursions.
Which courses are available for children?
Our wide-ranging course programme includes, among others, swimming, skiing, riding, biking and tennis courses for an additional fee.

What baby equipment is available in the hotel and restaurants?
Both baby car seats and highchairs by Stokke and Bugaboo are available. All public toilets are equipped with a changing table and nappies.
Do you provide baby food?
Our baby buffet with purées, formula and various jarred foods is available at all times.
Are there pushchairs in the hotel?
Starting with Bugaboo pushchairs (right up to twin buggies), through various baby and child carriers to back carriers, everything can be borrowed free of charge in the hotel.
Are bike trailers available to hire at the hotel?
For a fee, Thule bike trailers and Thule joggers can be hired from the sports shop.
Are there automatic bottle makers?
Yes, you can hire a Baby Brezza for your stay. The right formula milk for your little one is available directly at the baby bar. Here, a wide selection is available all day for you to help yourself. Please let us know before the start of your holiday and we will gladly reserve a Baby Brezza for you.
Where are babies and toddlers looked after?
In our Nature Children’s Farm, babies and toddlers have their own separate area. This is equipped exclusively with natural materials and is soundproofed.
The sleeping room with high-quality Swiss stone pine beds, organic bed linen, hay wallpaper and lamps decorated with goose feathers creates a cosy atmosphere. Perfect for an afternoon nap or a little rest in between.
From what age are babies cared for at the Moar Gut?
Loving baby care at the Moar Gut is offered from the 30th day of life. Please register by the evening before.
Can babies nap during childcare? Where do babies take their lunchtime nap?
The separate sleeping room is furnished with natural hay wallpaper, Swiss stone pine cots, organic bed linen and warm goose-feather lamps, offering babies and toddlers a particularly calm and cosy environment.
What are the hours for baby care?
Our baby care service is available daily from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Please register in advance by the evening before.
Are pushchairs available?
In our pram garage, Bugaboo pushchairs are available for you to use during your stay.
Is there a bottle steriliser?
We are happy to sterilise your baby bottles for you; on request we can also provide a bottle steriliser.

What are the opening hours of the spa?
The pools and lakes can be used from 7:00 a.m.; the saunas and spa areas are open from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

We recommend booking your preferred spa appointments before your arrival.

Which pools does the Moar Gut have?
Especially in the summer months, our natural bathing lake is perfect for cooling off. Whatever the weather, you can swim in the panorama indoor pool with separate baby and toddler area. The offer is complemented by a 25 m heated outdoor pool. In the sauna area you will find the ice-cold mountain lake.
What are the water depths of the pools?
The children’s pool is 40 cm deep, the indoor pool 128 cm, the natural bathing lake up to 300 cm and the outdoor pool 138 cm.
What is the water temperature in the baby pool?
The baby pool has a temperature of 34 degrees.
What is the water temperature in the panorama indoor pool and the outdoor pool?
The panorama indoor pool and outdoor pool are heated to 32 degrees.

Are Alpine activities such as climbing offered?
As a Moar Gut guest you can take part free of charge in the mountain programme of our partner Berg Gesund. Only the rental fee for equipment such as via ferrata sets is charged. All courses take place directly in the Großarl Valley
and are led by qualified guides. Registration takes place via reception.
Can bikes and e-bikes be hired?
In our hotel sports shop, bicycles and e-bikes for children and adults can be hired for a fee.
Can bike trailers and baby joggers be hired?
Bike trailers and baby joggers can be hired for a fee at the Sport Ladl.
Are guided hikes offered?
In the summer months we offer guided family hikes. Once a week, these even take you to our own Moar Gut Alm at almost 1,700 metres above sea level.
Are the alpine pastures easily accessible with children?
The Großarl Valley, also known as the Valley of Alpine Pastures, is famous for its child-friendly huts with playgrounds and petting zoos. Many huts are easily accessible even for little hikers.
Are there child-friendly alpine pastures nearby?
There are many pushchair-friendly hiking trails to the alpine pastures in Großarl. Our reception team will be happy to advise you depending on the weather and your preferred tours.
Is there a tennis court?
Yes, the Moar Gut has its own tennis court.
Can I also take part in sunrise hikes or summit tours?
Sunrise hikes and summit tours are offered regularly in summer by our hiking guide.
Are guided bike tours available?
Guided bike tours are offered several times a week.
Can I book a bike guide?
Yes, through our partner Sport Panorama you can book a certified bike guide exclusively for you and your family.
Can I hire tennis rackets at the hotel?
We are happy to provide tennis rackets and balls for hire.
Can I book tennis coaching?
On request, we will gladly arrange tennis lessons. Please let us know your wishes, ideally before your arrival.
Is there an archery course?
Our 2 km panoramic trail around the resort features a beautiful archery course.

What winter activities are available?
Skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing create shared experiences in the snow. Snowshoeing and ski touring are also possible here in the Großarl Valley.
Where can I hire skis and ski equipment?
In our in-house sports shop, the Ladl by Sport 2000, children and adults can easily hire skis and the appropriate equipment (for a fee).
How far away is the ski area?
The valley gondola station is only 3 km from our resort. We offer you a free private shuttle there and back.
Is there a shuttle to the ski area?
Yes, we provide an exclusive, complimentary shuttle. There and back. The timing is arranged entirely according to your wishes.
How snow-sure is the Skischaukel Grossarl/Dorfgastein ski area?
Even if the weather is unpredictable, the ski area guarantees optimal conditions thanks to state-of-the-art snowmaking.
Is there a practice ski slope?
Directly on the hotel grounds, our practice slope with snowmaking and rope lift awaits you. In addition, a magic carpet conveyor and a children’s carousel are available – ideal for those first turns in the snow. The children’s ski school is on site and offers ski lessons from the age of 3. Both private and group lessons are available. From the age of 2 there is a mini taster course (30 minutes).
Where can I go tobogganing/sledging with my children?
We have our own toboggan/sledge hill. We are happy to provide sledges/toboggans for our guests to hire.
Is cross-country skiing possible at the Moar Gut?
Yes, the cross-country trail runs directly past the hotel. The trail is groomed for both skating and classic cross-country. The trail is 25 km long and runs through the entire Großarl Valley – coaching sessions can also be booked on request.
Where are skis stored? Is there a locker?
Each family has access to a heated locker for skis and ski equipment.
Can ski passes be organised via the hotel?
Day passes, multi-day passes and 3-hour tickets can be purchased at reception. All other ski passes can be bought at the respective gondola stations.
Are there professional toboggan runs nearby?
With the toboggan runs at Lammwirt and Loosbühelalm, there are two beautiful, family-friendly tracks in the area.
Can I book private ski lessons and/or ski courses?
Our partner ski school offers private lessons, group lessons and guiding. Please submit your request, ideally before the start of your holiday.
Are there children’s ski courses and where do they take place?
Beginner ski courses take place on our hotel practice slope. More advanced speedsters ski with their group in the Großarltal/Dorfgastein ski area. The shuttle is organised easily and conveniently through the hotel. Please enquire, if possible, before your arrival.

Our partner ski school offers courses and private lessons for every level and ability.

Are horse-drawn sleigh rides available?
A very special winter experience: Horse-drawn sleigh rides with the Moar Gut carriage take you through the enchantingly snow-covered winter landscape around the Moar Gut.
Where does pony leading take place?
Weather permitting, pony leading takes place on the panoramic riding trail around the resort. Alternatively, we can move into the riding hall.
Can I book a trail ride to the Alm or a hack?
Yes, for advanced riders (children from the age of ten), we offer trail rides to the Alm.
The prerequisite is that the child or adult can ride freely and safely in all three basic gaits:
- Walk
- Trot
- Canter
On hacks around the resort, the walk and trot must be ridden freely and safely.
From what age and ability level is riding possible at the Moar Gut?
First encounter with a horse or advanced riding lessons – at the Moar Gut we offer the right option for every level. This way, every horse lover gets the most out of their riding holiday.
From what age is pony leading possible?
From the age of 3, children can book pony leading at the Moar Gut.
Is there play-based riding tuition?
For children aged 4 to 6 we offer lovingly designed play-based riding lessons.
How old does my child need to be for lunge lessons?
From the age of 6 we offer lunge lessons for children.
Can adults also ride?
Yes, adults can ride at the Moar Gut up to a body weight of 90 kg.
What equipment is needed for riding?
- Long trousers (even in summer)
- Good, ankle-high footwear – no sandals, Crocs or flip-flops
- Helmets and body protectors can be hired from us
- For shoulder-length hair and longer, please tie hair back in a ponytail
Important: Riding lessons cannot take place in shorts. For safety reasons, the riding lesson will automatically be converted into a pony walk.
My child only rides on holiday – what should I book?
The best option is to fill in the riding form. Our riding instructors will then decide together with the guests which lessons are most suitable for the child.
How are the riding badges structured?
Each badge consists of 5 units, including one theory unit and, on request, one hack.
How do I feed a horse correctly?
Always feed with a flat hand and fingers held flat.
How should I approach a horse?
• Stay calm
• Always speak to the horse before approaching it
• Never stand directly behind the horse
• Do not shout or run – neither on the horse nor near horses
Is it compulsory to wear a riding helmet and body protector?
• Helmets are compulsory for everyone, including adults
• Body protectors are compulsory for children up to 18 years
How many children take part in group riding lessons?

How many dogs are allowed per family suite?
As a rule, a maximum of one dog per suite is permitted.
Which areas are dog-free?
To ensure that all guests feel comfortable, we ask for your understanding that restaurants including terraces, the spa area, water world, Children’s Farm and riding stables/riding hall are dog-free zones.
Dogs must be kept on a lead throughout the hotel grounds.
How much does my dog cost per night?
We charge €50.00 per day for your four-legged companion. Should an additional final cleaning be required, we reserve the right to charge for this. Any damage to furnishings will be charged to the guest.
What is included in the dog rate?
Your dog can look forward to high-quality dog amenities in the suite – including a cosy dog bed and bowls. On arrival, your four-legged companion will be greeted with a treat, and we also provide dog-waste bags.
Where can I walk my dog?
A beautiful panoramic trail runs around the resort, with a walking time of around 30 minutes. In addition, an idyllic walking and cycling path along the Großarl Ache invites you to enjoy relaxed strolls. Beyond this, the entire Großarl Valley offers numerous, well-signposted hikes to alpine pastures and summits.
Is it compulsory to keep dogs on a lead at the Moar Gut?
Yes, leads are compulsory throughout the resort!
How is the suite cleaned after a stay with a dog?
After a stay with a dog, a legally required intensive cleaning of the suite is carried out using special cleaning agents and an industrial steamer.
Is there a vet nearby?
In St. Johann im Pongau there is a veterinary centre with two specialists in veterinary diagnostics and surgery. This can be reached by car in around 20 minutes.
Is there a dog sitter?
On request, we will gladly check the availability of a dog sitter.

From when is a reservation binding?
Your booking becomes binding with the written booking confirmation from our reservations department; you will also be asked to make a deposit.
What are the cancellation conditions?
The cancellation conditions according to the General Terms and Conditions for the hotel industry, if you have booked without travel cancellation insurance:
The total booked stay can be cancelled; shortening your stay by individual days is excluded.
– up to 3 months before arrival: free of charge
– from 3 months to 6 weeks before arrival: 40%
– from 6 weeks before arrival: 80%
– from one week before arrival: 100% of the booked package price.
Rebookings or cancellations can only be made in writing – postponing your holiday is treated as a cancellation.
What should I do in case of illness?
To avoid unnecessary cancellation costs, we recommend taking out European travel insurance. Our reception team will be happy to advise you.
Otherwise, the cancellation conditions according to the General Terms and Conditions for the hotel industry in our GTCs apply.
How are the prices to be understood?
Our prices are “from” prices and are quoted per suite up to full occupancy, including gourmet full board and all Moar Gut inclusive services. Local tax of €3.15 per adult and per day is not included.

Is there a laundry service?
Even on holiday, washing sometimes can’t be avoided. You are welcome to use the hotel laundry room to wash your clothes yourself. Washing machine, tumble dryer, detergent, clothes horse and iron are available for your use. On request, our laundry service will gladly take care of cleaning for you (for a fee).
Are the underground parking spaces free of charge?
Yes, the underground car park is free of charge and monitored by video.
Is there a doctor nearby?
There are two resident doctors in Großarl and Hüttschlag.
Is there a pharmacy nearby?
There is a pharmacy in Großarl.
How is the hotel run? Who are the hosts?
The Moar Gut is family-run by the Kendlbacher family. Three generations of the family are passionate hosts.
Is Wi-Fi available?
Wi-Fi is available free of charge throughout the hotel.

Is there a gym?
At the Moar Gut, guests have access to a bright gym with modern Technogym equipment. Among other things, you will find: 3 treadmills, 2 bikes, 1 stepper, 1 rowing machine, 1 barbell with weights, individual weights and the most important strength-training machines. There is also a battle rope, 1 TRX, a plyo box and fascia rollers.
Which courses can I book in addition?
Reformer Pilates, tennis lessons and private training sessions can be booked additionally.
Which courses are offered?
Part of our extensive inclusive activity programme are yoga classes, fascia training, ice bathing, boxing, circuit training, functional fitness and morning stretch.
