Dear Leni, please tell us a little bit about yourself!
My name is Leni Kock, I’m 21 years old and originally from the Baltic Sea region in northern Germany. By chance, I came across Moar Gut on Instagram and have been part of the service team since September 2025.
Tell us more about your journey so far!
In 2023, I successfully completed my A-levels and then spent some time travelling through France. Through an acquaintance, I became aware of the Kempinski Hotel in Berchtesgaden and spontaneously decided to move to southern Germany. After completing a ten-month internship there, I returned home and gained further valuable experience in a forest inn, working both in the kitchen and in service.
However, my desire to see more of the world remained. This eventually led me to Vietnam, where I took part in a Work & Travel programme. During this time, I had the opportunity to discover new cultures and gain many enriching experiences.
What was your first impression of Moar Gut?
After returning from Vietnam, I submitted my application on a Sunday evening. At 9:00 p.m. that very same day, I received an email from Elly in the HR department, letting me know that she would contact me the following morning. And that’s exactly what happened.
Two weeks later, I was invited for an interview and met Thomas. His open and friendly personality immediately made me feel welcome and at ease. On September 1st, 2025, I officially started my first day at Moar Gut.
What makes Moar Gut so special to you?
The family-like atmosphere at Moar Gut is truly unique. The way guests, colleagues, and the owner family interact with one another is characterised by warmth, appreciation, and genuine care. The owners are always open to suggestions and constructive feedback, which makes you feel heard and valued.
One of the things I enjoy most is working with the children. I always try to learn their names as quickly as possible. Not only do the children love it, but their parents appreciate it as well. Before the evening service begins, I often take a walk through the restaurant to refresh my memory and make sure I remember everyone’s names. It allows me to create a more personal and individual guest experience.
There’s also always something to smile about when Chef Sepp is around. With his great sense of humour, he lightens the atmosphere and regularly puts everyone in a good mood.
Equally special are the moments spent with colleagues after work. We wait for one another, reflect on the day together, and then head back to the team lodges as a group. These are exactly the moments that create a true sense of togetherness, belonging, and team spirit.
