Advent is probably one of the most enchanting and idyllic times of the year. Snowflakes are falling from the sky and immerse the beautiful mountain world in a white blanket of snow. The scent of cinnamon and incense is in the air and at the Moar Gut peace and quiet return. Find to yourself, reflect and appreciate the small wonderful things again. This is the wonderful pre-Christmas season in Salzburger Land.
Our Family & Nature Resort offers plenty of space all around for playing, running around, and enjoying all kinds of winter fun. While the little ones experience unique adventures in and around the resort, parents can fully enjoy their time at Moar Gut as well. Whether skiing, cross-country skiing, or ski touring – winter sports are definitely not in short supply here in Großarltal.

Horse-Drawn Sleigh Ride
Nostalgia meets romance – during a horse-drawn sleigh ride, you glide through the picturesque mountain landscape of Großarltal wrapped in cozy blankets. Our Icelandic horses are harnessed and off you go. With the Moar Gut carriage, surrounded by silence and accompanied only by the snorting of our Icelandic horses, it becomes a truly unique and idyllic experience you won’t soon forget.
Großarl Mountain Advent
On December 1st, the unique and idyllic Christmas market in Großarl opens once again. Under the motto “traditional and contemplative,” a variety of culinary delicacies are offered and exceptional handicrafts are presented. From the Angel Post Office and cookie baking to the nativity trail – the Mountain Advent in Großarltal offers a unique program set within a wonderful alpine atmosphere.
Winter Hiking
During a relaxing winter walk along the Großarl Arche or the Panorama Trail, you will hear nothing but the crunch of snow beneath your feet and the gentle sound of the stream. The fresh mountain air is a true balm for the soul and brings relaxation and tranquility. Warm up afterwards by the fireplace in the lobby and enjoy a soothing cup of tea.
Experiencing Traditions
In the pre-Christmas season, old traditions are often strongly celebrated. Customs hold a special significance during this time of year. Whether it’s the Krampus driving away spirits, the visit of Saint Nicholas, or the burning of herbs in homes. Advent offers deep insights into the traditions of the Salzburg region.
Cookies & Punch
Who doesn’t love them? The small and delicious cookies that are almost impossible to resist. The Advent season without cookies and punch is hardly imaginable. We also love baking cookies and enjoy delighting our guests with these little treats. A warm cup of punch and a homemade cookie – that’s the pre-Christmas season at Moar Gut.

Building a Snowman
A snowman perfectly captures the magic and fun of winter. With plenty of creativity and a touch of childlike enthusiasm, everyone becomes a sculptor when building a snowman. The basic instructions are very simple: stack three snowballs of different sizes on top of each other. Finally, add a carrot for the nose, twigs for the arms, and pieces of coal for the eyes. And just like that – your beautiful snowman is complete!
